Greenhill's "Very Good" Care Inspectorate Rating
Our Greenhill's Home in Biggar has received a glowing report from inspectors after being praised for its compassionate staff, the quality of its care and its positive relationships with residents and families.

Greenhills Care Home, on Broughton Road, was graded “Very Good” for the way it supports residents’ health and wellbeing following an unannounced Care Inspectorate visit in August. The rating is five out of six on the Care Inspectorate’s grading scale, with inspectors finding “significant strengths” in the care provided and in the positive outcomes achieved for residents.
Inspectors highlighted the warm atmosphere within the home, noting that staff had developed meaningful relationships with residents based on “warmth, respect and compassion”. Residents were found to feel valued as individuals, and families said they were happy with the care and support their loved ones received.
Residents themselves also gave positive feedback. One told inspectors: “I am well taken care of and supported with every aspect of my wellbeing.” Another said: “I feel very lucky to be here.”
The inspection found that staff had a good understanding of residents’ individual needs, preferences and health requirements, with strong teamwork helping to provide continuity of care. Inspectors also praised the home’s clinical oversight, including weekly clinical reviews and regular GP involvement, and medication management was described as safe and well organised.
Food was another highlight, with inspectors finding that residents’ nutritional needs were well supported. Mealtimes were described as relaxed, positive and enjoyable, and residents spoke highly of the quality and presentation of the food.
The positive inspection also marks significant progress for Greenhills since its previous assessment. All four areas for improvement identified following the April 2025 inspection have now been met. These included improvements to fire safety records, the home’s environment, personal care planning, and staff involvement in evaluating and improving the service.
Inspectors also highlighted a substantial programme of investment in the home, which has improved its physical environment, furnishings and equipment, helping to create a more welcoming and comfortable setting for residents. There have also been no complaints upheld against Greenhills since the previous inspection.
The inspection involved conversations with residents, relatives, staff and management, alongside observations of daily life at Greenhills and a review of records. Feedback was also gathered through questionnaires and from visiting professionals.
Andy Jamieson, Managing Director, said: “This grade is a credit to everyone at Greenhills. The inspectors’ findings reflect what we see every day: a team that knows each resident as an individual and takes real pride in the care they provide. I would like to thank the whole team, and the residents and families who took the time to share their views with the inspectors.”
Greenhills is a purpose-built care home in Biggar, registered to support up to 45 older people. At the time of the inspection, 38 residents were living at the home.
